Funeral Planning
We, the Pastoral Staff of St Mark Parish, extend our deepest sympathies to you at this time of loss!
Death is a mystery, unendurable unless we truly believe that in His own death Christ has gone before us, destroying the power of death forever. Because of His death and resurrection we can say with confidence that life is changed, not ended. That same paschal journey Jesus Himself experienced is traced in the life of every soul baptized into His body, the Church.
In her wisdom, the Church provides us with the funeral liturgy in which we come together to celebrate the life and the gift that was our loved one. We give God thanks that this person graced our lives in so many ways. We pray for the repose of his/her soul in the arms of a loving, forgiving God. More than that, the liturgy is intended to strengthen our faith in the promises of God at a time when all that can be felt is grief and loss.
Participation in the funeral liturgy is one last loving act for the deceased, an expression of our belief in the empty tomb and a plea for healing in a time of hurt and sadness.
In the pages in our funeral planning booklet below, are the information and materials you need to plan the funeral Mass. We hope that you will find comfort in making your selections for the Mass.
Know that God is with you at this most difficult time. He grieves with you. He weeps with you. Let Him be your strength and refuge in this time of heartbreak. May God grant you peace.
